How can I compare the resolution of the Lytro camera to that of existing cameras?

The most honest answer is that you can't. The Lytro Light Field Camera captures information about the direction and intensity of light, and depth information, that make comparisons to 2D cameras impossible.

Image quality on the Lytro camera will be similar to that of the pictures you currently see on our Picture Gallery.
