What file formats does Lytro support?

  • LFP: The light field data for each picture, including info about the color, luminosity and direction of 11 million rays of light, is stored in a format developed by Lytro called the LFP (Light Field Picture) format.  When you import (move) your "living pictures" to your computer via the Lytro Desktop software, each LFP file is about 16MB.
  • JPG: Once your living pictures have been transferred into the Lytro Desktop software, you also have the option to export to JPG format. Note, however, that the Lytro Desktop software itself does not display or recognize .JPG format images. You can, however, use any off-the-shelf image software with these exported JPG images.
