Hello Lytro,
First It would be great if you could let us re-organize and add more photos to the stories on your Lytro.com profile after you initially upload them. For instance if I create a story called My Parents. It would be nice to be able to add future photos of of my parents in that Story later.
Secondly it would be nice if we could re-order the photos once they have been uploaded to the a story. Sometimes you want them to be displayed in a particular order. I don't see a way to do this once you have uploaded the story to the site.
Third It would also be nice if we could re-name our stories once they are uploaded the the site. From what I can tell there is no way change a story once you upload it to the site.. Once you upload a set up pictures to the site if you want to add a photo to that story or re-name it. You have to delete the previous story and re-upload the story with the additional photo or new name.
Maybe I am just not seeing a menu to change the things I mentioned above?
Thanks Again!

Hey Robert! Awesome ideas! Thanks for sharing and the thoughtfulness of these ideas.
Right now you can't add pictures existing stories or re-order. But these are definitely on our radar. You can however rename a story title and add a description. Do this by signing in to your lytro account. Once signed in, go to the story page and double click on the story title on top. This will turn it into editable text. Save by pressing enter.
Keep the feedback coming. Hope you enjoyed your 1st weekend with the Lytro camera.

Just adding another voice to this thread. I tend towards uploading pictures one at a time, which doesn't seem compatible with the current UX for organizing stories, as I can't find a way to group pictures into a single story post-upload. Looking forward to having this implemented.
Thanks!

Thanks Danny. Great feedback. We hear you. Would you want to upload to a current story set from the desktop or prefer to rearrange after you have uploaded?
While both features are useful, the latter feels more pressing.
For a concrete example, my lytro page (pictures.lytro.com/q) feels fairly disorganized right now as every picture is in its own independent story. I'm hesitant to delete any of them and re-upload with a new picture id, as that would break the links to those pages that were posted to Facebook at upload time.
And thanks for listening!
By the way, my wife (Claudine Co from Intuit) says hi!
I totally agree with Danny. My photos page is totally disorganized (pictures.lytro.com/rex) because every photo I've uploaded has its own story. The ability to move photos from story to story is essential. I've since organized my photos in the desktop app, but there's currently no way to do it via the web interface. This is a necessity!
I think I agree with Danny. It is more important to let the users rearrange after you have uploaded. This would allow users to keep the URL for the photograph and not break any links. For instance if I want to add a photo of my dog to an old story I have to delete the old story and re upload the story with all the new photos. That breaks all the old URLs. If we could upload the new photos to a different story and then move them over to the old story we could preserve all the old URL info.
Hey Claudine Co! She has helped me a ton with legal stuff when there.
Robert, Matt, Danny - hear you guys. This is a pain right now, thanks for your patience while we address it. For now, a pro tip is using the star feature in the desktop app to organize pictures that you share to lytro.com. If you do want to add pictures to a specific story later and need to re-upload the story...the star feature helps you avoid the 'hunt and peck' for your pictures that you've already uploaded.
Keep it comin'
I don't know if more votes are better but this would be very handy for me as well. I am one of the Windows guys who had to make friends with a Mac guy, but unfortunately we are not joined at the hip (although that would make for fun times). I don't mind having to use their Mac to upload and manage the photos, but being able to organize and manipulate them online would be very useful for sharing.
I just got my Lytro today, totally love it. I'd also like to add a "Me too!" to this topic. One of my photography habits is taking lots of unrelated, uncategorized pictures, and dumping them into a "Random Pictures" album. With the current website, once I create a story, it's done - I'd love to be able to continually add to my Random Pictures story as I take more, without breaking the old link.
A related feature I'd like, that hasn't been mentioned in this thread, is synchronization between Lytro.com and the desktop app. Example: I publish my Random Pictures album to Lytro.com, it gets flagged as "Online" in the desktop app. Then, whenever I drag a new picture into that story in the app (regular drag to move, option-drag to duplicate and add?), it updates my story on Lytro.com, too. Conversely, trashcanning a picture from the website could initiate some kind of "Hey, you deleted this online, delete it from the desktop app, too?" dialog on the next app launch.
Agreed, basic "collection" management features. They would be even acceptable on desktop, if there was a "sync" option of some sort... But it sure would be nice to reorder and move images between "stories". I think we can do "comments" but I do not think we can "star" images online.. that would be nice too.
Thing that annoys me the most right now, is that I share something in email or some other page, then I want to add images to same story, and endup with a duplicate story.. If I delete the old one it invalidates the previous links... I think I'd even prefer a "story overwrite" over "create a new story every time " when you share from desktop to the web.
100% agree with this thread.
Same here! Haven't been sharing the pics recently because I want to get it all organized first. Already am going to have to resend my old links. Don't want friends and family having to search for each up-to-date link just to show off one of my pics!
I'm shooting pictures during a week long event, not having the ability to add pictures to an existing story forces me to share the link to my main page and have them click on the event story, which isn't really user friendly.
Come on Lytro! I would have though this would have been one of the easy tasks to knock off your list, yet still no progress months later? As a web designer i know it should be pretty simple for you to update the web version to at least allow users to move lightfield pics in and out of folders / reorder the pics.
Im loving the camera but it does seem as though its taking you a while to catch up in terms of the software.
Sorry if this is sounding negative but we've all spent a fair bit of money on something that seems to be in a very 'beta' stage right now.
Dont get me wrong - fantastic product and loving it!
I am joining the chorus! HAVE TO be able to add to a story or it prevents the Story from being living or dynamic - it means we have to organize carefully before uploading!
Also if we have titled them on our desk top isn't there a way we can get the titles to export as well?
One more who'd like this feature with an add-on...ability to choose not to share individual images within the story. Since right now it is an all or nothing on a story-wide basis.
If this is mentioned previously and I missed it, sorry for the duplicate request.
Loving the camera. Thanks.
Adding to the story, rearranging images in the story, ability to say which image is first in the story, which image(s) to share in a story....... This thread was started nearly a year ago. How's the progress? I know support has been added for perspective shift, etc., but this is pretty basic I would think. Thanks for all the Lytro work!!!
