Can Lytro camera be used without the desktop software?

I am a Windows user, and do not have access to a Mac. Can Lytro camera be used without the current Mac desktop software?

In the sense that Lytro is a not just a camera, but an entire product ecosystem (camera, desktop, and web), no, you must have a Mac.
While you could just snap away, the living pictures would be trapped on your camera until connection to the Lytro Desktop software.
