After installing the software, it seems that text and other decoration of the UI is completely missing. This continues through to the upload dialogs and everything else.
On first launch of the desktop software, it gave a crash dialog after hitting the "relaunch and install" for the update. The software seemed to relaunch before the update was fully installed. I exited the software because it had no text on the UI, and got the crash dialog again. Re-launching manually didn't help.
I uninstalled the software (dragged to trash), downloaded the installer from www.lytro.com/download, and installed that. I still have no text in my UI making it a bit difficult to navigate.
Screenshot attached for reference (note the buttons and dropdowns in the upper corners of the window. My mac is running OS X 10.6.8

I am having this exact same issue.
Charles and Chuck, thank you for reporting and providing the screenshot. I've escalated this to our QA engineers and I'll update this thread when I know more or to follow up.
Charles, did you submit that crash report? If so, do you remember what you entered, if anything, in the description field?
If Lytro Desktop crashes again, would you please paste the following URL into the crash reporter description field so we can easily associate it with this thread:

I have the same issues as Charles: text missing and crash reports after quitting. I did the same has he did as well (uninstalling and reinstalling the software). I submitted a crash report mentioning this and referenced this thread as suggested in hopes that it might help.
Would you confirm that:
I'd also like to get some clarity on when, exactly, Desktop is crashing. Is it random?
Finally is the text issue constant? Does text ever render correctly?
Adam
I installed Lytro Desktop via the camera. During downloading of the first images a popup appeared saying a new version (v1.0.1) was available for download. I then allowed it to download the update during picture loading. The first crash notice, if I remember correctly, happened when I unplugged the camera, when asked, after the first software download from the camera. It gave a crab notification after quitting the first time. It now gives a crash notification every time I quit the Lytro Desktop software. I have used the software several times and the missing text is constant at all times. It is missing from the buttons, from the pull down menus with in the software (not from the menu bar) and there is no picture information displayed (the fields are empty). There is text in the some fields (see attached image). Other than that the software seems to work in all other respects. I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro, 2G RAM, OSX 10.7.3 (Lion). I hope this is helpful.
Sorry, I didn't get the image attached. Here it is. Note in the background is an image with the picture information active, yet no text appears.
We have a new KB we hope will assit you in resolving this matter:
