Why aren't my living pictures processing?

If your living pictures are taking a long time to process, or are not finishing processing at all, here are some things to be aware of:

  • Regardless of the type of CPU (processor) you have, computing the light field is a very resource-intensive process.  Importing pictures will go more quickly if you do this task at a time when you are not making other significant demands on your computer, e.g. actively using another resource-intensive program, or even just running many different applications at once.
  • Lytro Desktop does not support processing other pictures in the background while in individual picture view when using certain older processors.  If you have a comparatively older CPU (processor), such as the Intel Core 2 Duo, Lytro Desktop cannot do certain types of multitasking, including processing additional pictures, while in Individual Picture View.  Other than the individual picture you're looking at, processing of pictures will halt while you are in individual picture view with these older processors.  To resume processing, just go back to Story View.
